Terrestrial Committee

New Members Welcome!

The CBT Board of Directors encourages interested individuals from the UNESCO Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region to sign-up for membership on an Advisory Committee. Participating on these community-based Committees provides residents with an excellent opportunity to network with peers and contribute to a sustainable future for the region.

Forestry Info Session March 2008

The Terrestrial Committee provides advice to the CBT Board on project proposals and priorities. The group meets every 6 - 8 weeks and has broad representation from throughout the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve region. All meetings are opened to the public -- please feel welcome to join us.

The Committee also develops their own projects with staff support. In Spring 2008, the Terrestrial Committee hosted a forestry info session to facilitate the sharing of information between forestry operators and committee members. The Committee was keen to increase their knowledge about current and planned harvesting, as well as the challenges and opportunities in meeting the Scientific Panel Recommendations.

In 2007, the Committee purchased a partial set of orthographic photos of the Clayoquot Sound region. These photos are available for research, education and training purposes at no cost. Please contact Jessie Fletcher at the CBT to make arrangements to access the photos.
